About the illustration:

Pretty much back to the “style I’m known for”, with a couple of new tricks under my sleeve: mostly my usual cel shaded coloring, with some extra gradients that I usually simulate instead of doing with the tool provided by Affinity Designer. I think the mix ended up pretty good!

This Porsche 917K in Gulf Livery is a legend. If you like cars and racing, chances are you’re familiar with it (or some other cars with this livery, like the Ford GT or my own McLaren F1 GTR)

Speaking of the McLaren F1 GTR, that was the original inspiration from my client Ricardo from Brasil. He contacted me because he loved that piece and he’s building a slot car place, and wants to use my artwork as the imagery of the place. I’m flattered!

Down below is the final artwork I shared with Ricardo as he requested, with a very similar background and vibes as the McLaren piece:

And although I liked the requested background, I felt I needed something else if I was going to add it to my website (and of course I was! It’s a gorgeous looking pieces, isn’t it?). This is how I ended with a more realistic (yet still stylized) background, which I feel looks great. What do you think?
