This piece was commissioned by James Lomas as a celebratory artwork for Nielsen Racing team’s win of the LeMans Cup. The original request was to have the car head on with the Nielsen logo in the wing visible, preferably in the Paul Ricard Circuit.

The composition was created by me using a combination of reference photos from Nielsen Racing team’s Instagram and a photo I took virtually using the F1 2020 game (to get the Circuit Paul Ricard’s likeness in an interesting curve).

About the illustration:

The illustration was made in Affinity Designer using vector art mainly, with some finishing layers to give the final look.

I always try to do something new in each illustration so I can improve, and in this case, it’s the rainy look.

I had already used the raster/pixel persona technique in the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GR010 HYBRID #7 piece of last year, but here I pushed it even further.

I hope you like the final result! This will be printed out and sent to the UK, and I can’t wait to see it framed!
