Hot Wheels - Creating Lightly Collection
About the image:
This might look like a picture, because well, it is!
I have been playing/collecting Hot Wheels on and off since I was little. I have a small collection back home in Argentina, waiting for me to pick them up again, as well as a new and growing collection in my new home in the Netherlands.
This time I have started collecting Hot Wheels Premium, which are a bit more expensive but much better detailed and satisfying to have, so I’d rather have a smaller collection of better cars, than just a bunch of normal ones, but that’s not why you’re here.
I have seen there was a very cool Volvo 850 Estate Hot Wheels Premium, that reminded me of my “Escaping Moonlight: Volvo 850” artwork, so I thought:
“What would a Hot Wheels Premium car look like with my artwork on the card?”
And that was the beginning of this collection. I started with the Volvo 850. Got a good picture of the car (which I don’t yet have, sadly!) and used it as a base to make a vector version of the whole card, including the plastic housing, the reflections, logos, everything but the car itself. The car is an edited photo with the colours changed to match the actual artwork.
I think it worked very well, and people in Twitter did too! They loved it, so I decided to do some more and “complete the collection”. That’s what you can see in the picture above, and in detail with each image below. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, and you are as annoyed as me because they don’t really exist in real life.
Dear Hot Wheels/Mattel: let’s make this a reality! Please! 🙌🏻
