Alfa Romeo 4C

About the illustration:

I always wanted to illustrate this car, since I absolutely love it's design. I wanted to try something new this time around, so I added some raster work after finishing the vector art part.

I used two references this time. A static car photo from a Youtube video from StefAbtv's channel (this is his personal car at the time) and a moving car screenshot I took in photo mode in Forza Motorsport 6 for Xbox One, to add the moving wheels from reference.

Here are the references and some in progress shots as well:

Reference 1/2 - Screenshot from a video taken from StefAbtv's Youtube channel.

This was used for around 95% of the artwork idea/reference.

Reference 2/2 - Fired up the Xbox One and tried to get a similar car running in a similar position, to use as reference for the remaining 5%: the moving wheels.

Mashed both references up to make everything work out.

Progress 1/3 - First draft of the idea, with silhouette, highlights and light trails (both rear and front beams, which would then be removed)

Progress 2/3 - Developing the idea with the background, front light beam removed.

Progress 3/3 - Added all reflections and shadows, as well as the moving wheels. I thought the car would look cooler and more appropriate if it was moving, since the brake lights are leaving a light trail.
